MEOVV (미야오, Miyao) is a five-member South Korean girl group under THEBLACKLABEL. The group debuted on September 6th, 2024 with MEOW.
The group name MEOVV is an acronym for "My Eyes Open VVide." It also alludes to their cat concept.
Career[]
Pre-Debut[]
In February 2024, photos of trainees under The Black Label, rumored to be members of the agency's upcoming girl group, spread online. The photos notably included child actress and model Ella Gross, choreographer Bailey Sok, and Moon Seo-yoon -- granddaughter of Shinsaegae chairman Lee Myung-hee.[1] On February 6, 2024, The Black Label confirmed it was preparing to debut its first girl group in the first half of 2024.[2]
The group's name was trademarked on March 2024.
August 2024: Members reveal[]
In May 2024, it was reported that Moon Seo-yoon had dropped out of the group's lineup.[3] On August 16, 2024, the group's debuting name, MÉOVV, along with its SNS accounts, were officially revealed.[4] Moreover, a motion teaser featuring five cats was released, hinting at the group's potential number of members.[5]
On August 20th, It was announced that MEOVV would start teasing it's own members. Ella was revealed as the first member, following Gawon, Sooin, Anna, and Narin respectively.
September 2024: Debut with MEOW[]
On September 2nd, 2024, MEOVV Released a video titled 'MEOVV Trailer', September 6th was said as the debut date in the end, September 3rd, 2024, THEBLACKLABEL posted a Concept photo of MEOW by THEBLACKLABEL on all socials, The group officially released MEOW on September 6th, 2024.
